Transfer to Teal Student Tour Guides 2018-2019

 2nd Year Teal Guide

I am a senior at UNCW.  I transferred from Forsyth Technical Community College after receiving my Associates in Fine Arts.  I am currently working on a Theatre Major with a concentration in Design & Production and a History minor.  With this degree, I hope to travel the world as a Stage Manager for a touring show.  Eventually, I will get a Mater of Fine Arts so that when I'm ready to live in one place, I can become a Theatre Professor.  While in college, I spend most of my time working on shows for UNCW Theatre Department.  I also juggle four jobs both on and off campus in my free time.

My name is Carrie.  I'm 23 years old and a junior.  I am a Pre-Communication Studies major with a concentration in Interpersonal Communication and Conflict Management with a minor in Psychology.  I transferred from Carteret Community College in Morehead City.  Though I'm not originally from North Carolina, I am now proud to call it home.  The part I love most about being a Transfer to Teal Tour Guide is being able to show others my love of the UNCW campus and the community that surrounds it.

Hi! I'm a junior from Hickory, NC where I transferred from Catawba Valley Community College with my Associates in Arts degree.  I am a Psychology major.  This is my first year at the Dub, and I already have so much love for UNCW!  I am part of the Transfer to Teal tour guides as well as the UNCW cheer team.  Outside of school, I love to go to the beach, shop downtown, and spend time with my friends.  Go Hawks!

Hey everyone!  I am a junior here at UNCW studying Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing Strategy.  I am originally from West Palm Beach, FL and spent some time in Massachusetts before moving to Raleigh, NC my senior year of high school.  I transferred here my sophomore year from the University of Alabama and I am thankful every single day that I did so.  UNCW Has truly become my second home and I cannot picture myself anywhere else.

I'm an active member of Greek life here on campus and hold many positions within my sorority.  There are 260+ clubs on campus, so there is no doubt that you will be able to find your group!  I decided to become a Teal Guide because I had such an amazing transfer experience and I wanted to be able to share that with potential new students!  Go Seahawks!

Hi! My name is Devin and I am from Bethesda, Maryland, which is right outside of Washington, D.C.  I am a sophomore and a Special Education major.  I transferred to UNCW from Clemson University in South Carolina.  After college I hope to become a guidance counselor in a middle school.

Apart from being a teal tour guide I am involved in a few other organizations!  I am in the Honors College and I am involved in Greek Life here at UNCW.  I work part-time at the Chipotle right near the mall!  I love feeling so much a part of the community at UNCW and I am so happy that I transferred here!

I am the daughter of two retired air force veterans.  I was born in Dayton, Ohio, but consider Goldsboro, North Carolina my home since I've lived there the longest.  I also lived overseas in England for three years.  I transferred to UNCW last January.  I am a biology major and plan to attend NC State School of Veterinary Medicine to pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian after my time here at UNCW.  I am currently on the executive board of the UNCW Ducks Unlimited chapter and am also on the executive board for Beta Beta Beta (Tri Beta) Biological Honors Society.

Outside of school I work at PetSmart as well as Salt Air.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the beach, going out to eat, and going shopping with my friends.  I have fallen in love with WIlmington and hope you will too.  Go Seahawks!

Hi! My name is Paige.  I was born in England and I grew up there for the first decade of my life.  In 2009 my family moved to Apex, NC with my father's career.  I am an alumnus of Wake Technical Community College, where I spent a year getting my Associate in Arts degree before graduating and transferring to UNCW.  I am currently a junior, majoring in Business Administration with two concentrations in Management and Leadership and Strategic Marketing.

There were many reasons why I chose UNCW, but being close to the beach was a big factor.  When I'm not in class or being a Transfer to Teal tour guide, you can find me hanging in my Eno under the pier relaxing and listening to the ocean.  I also enjoy learning to surf through Seahawk Adventures, reading books (I'm always looking for new suggestions), watching Netflix or having game night with my friends.

2nd Year Teal Guide

I am born and raised in NC and grew up in the lovely town of Wake Forest.  After high school, I attended Louisburg College and graduated with my Associates of Arts degree.  At Louisburg College I was involved in just about everything possible.  As a member of the Phi Beta Lambda Business Fraternity, I competed in the Social Media Campaign event and found my passion for marketing and advertising through online platforms.

I loved my time at Louisburg, but I have definitely found my home away from home here at UNCW!  I moved down to Wilmington last June and began working at a daycare.  I jumped in as a junior last fall and got involved on campus right away.  My favorite part so far is being part of UNCW Girl's Ultimate Frisbee Team, Seaweed.

2nd Year Teal Guide

Hi, my name is Tara.  I am from Wallace, NC so I am not too far from home.  I transferred to UNCW the fall of 2017 after receiving my Associate in Arts degree from James Sprunt Community College.  I am a senior majoring in Elementary Education with a concentration in Fine Arts and a minor in Theatre, and I hope to pursue a Master's degree as well.  I chose to live on campus and I absolutely love it! On campus, I am involved in Greek Life where I hold a chair position in my sorority.  I am also a member of the UNCW Dance Team, Anime Club, and I was an Orientation Leader for the 2018 school year, and I will continue to be one for the 2019 academic year as well.  I believe that being a transfer student should not hinder you from enjoying all of the wonderful aspects of college.  I am thrilled to be a Transfer to Teal tour guide and help others see that you can live your college dreams if you pursue them.  I am an avid reader and dance is a very important part of my life.  I also enjoy volunteering with various organizations including the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life and the Children's Miracle Network.  I am involved in both of these through my participation in the Miss North Carolina Organization.  I am excited to share my story and help others see that being a transfer student is wonderful and they can achieve anything they desire.  Proud to be a Seahawk!

2nd Year Teal Guide

Hi!  I am a senior from Kernersville, NC.  I am a business major with a concentration in finance and a minor in leadership studies.  I transferred my sophomore year from UNC-Charlotte.  I have fallen in love with Wilmington and am happy to call this place home!

Outside of class I work at the front desk in the admissions office.  I am a member of Greek life and the Cameron Executive Network.  I absolutely love kids and hope to work with a non-profit when I graduate!  Fun facts about me include that I love cats and I'm the oldest of 2 siblings!

Hey there!  My name is Presley and I am a sophomore majoring in Business Marketing.  I am originally from Southern California, but I have been living in North Carolina for 10 years.  I transferred to UNCW this semester from a small community college 4 hours away.  I am an off campus student living walking distance to the campus!  If I'm not spending time with friends or at the beach, I like to shop for antiques at local curio shops!  I am so proud to be a transfer tour guide because not only does it make me feel involved with the campus community, it is a great honor to introduce potential Seahawks to their future home!

Hi, my name is Quay and I am a junior at UNCW.  In the fall of 2017, I challenged myself to move further from home, so I transferred to UNCW Wilmington from Central Piedmont Community College.  Throughout this transition, I changed my major three times, but I can proudly say that I am now an Environmental Science major with a concentration in Conservation.  I am still debating whether I will attend Graduate School right after graduation or if I will join a branch in the United States Military, but I know I will eventually do both.

At UNC Wilmington, I am a Campus Life Office Assistant, work with UNCW Campus Recreation, and I am involved in many other clubs and organizations.  I also live on campus with two amazing roommates.  Being a Seahawk is a wonderful opportunity!

Hi! My name is Rachel and I just transferred to UNCW from Wake Technical Community College.  I was born and raised in Lehman, Pennsylvania and moved to North Carolina when I was 18.  While at UNCW I will be majoring in Elementary Education with a concentration in Behavioral Studies.  I am a Teal Guide and a member of Watson Student Leaders.  I live on campus and love every second of it!  One of my favorite things to do is talk to others and get to know them, which is why being a Teal Guide is great for me!  I am so excited to share my experience with others.  Go Seahawks!

I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC where I went to UNC Charlotte for 2 years and then transferred to UNCW Wilmington.  I am a Criminology major with a concentration in Criminal Justice.  I am involved in several intramural sports on campus, while also the co-owner of The Playbook Social.  I enjoy traveling with my girlfriend, re-watching The Office, spending time with family, and running.
