Associate Provost for Research and Dean of Graduate School, Search Committee

Dear Colleagues,

We are preparing to initiate a recruitment process to identify the next Associate Provost for Research and Dean of the Graduate School. The position reflects the reorganization of those offices and reconfiguration of the former position of Dean of the Graduate School and Research. The new structure and title better reflect UNCW's significant engagement in research, scholarly and creative activity as well as sponsored endeavors. As UNCW seeks to expand and enhance these key areas, the search for the first non-interim holder of this position is an important one. Our goal is to have the sucessful candidate identified in March 2014 in anticipation of a start date of approximately July 1, 2014. I am delighted to announce that the following individuals have agreed to serve on the search committee:

  • Ken Teitelbaum, Dean of the Watson College of Education, Search Committee Chair
  • Steve Fontana, Sr Tech Development Officer, Center for Marine Science
  • Randy Cottrell, Professor, Health and Applied Human Sciences
  • Susan Hermanson, Professor, Accountancy
  • Mahnaz Moallem, Professor, Instructional Technology
  • Alison Taylor, Professor, Biology and Marine Biology
  • Paul Townend, Department Chair, History
  • Andrea Bourdelais, Research Associate Professor, Senate Research Committee
  • Karl Ricanek, Professor, Computer Science
  • Panda Powell, Director, Office of Research Services
  • Rick Whitfield, Associate Vice Chancellor, Business Affairs
  • Brian Victor, Associate Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs
  • Katja Huru, Graduate Student representative
  • Jennifer Coombs, EPA Employment Coordinator, Human Resources

I appreciate the search committee members for their willingness to serve and thank them for their participation in this important recruitment process. I look forward to working with them to secure an outstanding individual for this leadership role.
