Organizational and Leadership Changes Summer 2011

The Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs announces the following organizational and leadership changes effective summer 2011.

  • Changes to the Office of the Provost:
    • Anthony Vaughn becomes the Director of University Space Planning and Management.
      • Tina Strickland, Facilities Use Manager, moves to the Office of University Space Planning and Management.
  • Changes to the AA organizational structure:
    • Public Service and Continuing Studies moves to Academic Affairs. Interim Dean Thomas Barth will report to Provost Cathy Barlow.
    • The Office of Research Services & Sponsored Programs becomes the Office of Research Services.
    • Cultural Arts moves to Academic Affairs. Director Norman Bemelmans will report to Provost Cathy Barlow.
    • The Honors Scholars Program becomes the Honors College.
    • The Center for Teaching Excellence and the Center for Faculty Leadership are merging to become the Center for Teaching Excellence and Faculty Leadership. Director Caroline Clements will report to Provost Cathy Barlow.
  • Leadership changes:
    • Academic Affairs
      • Nelson Reid becomes the Director of University Planning.
    • Center for Marine Science
      • Nancy Grindlay becomes the Associate Director for Research.
      • John Morrison becomes the Associate Director for Academic Planning.
    • Watson School of Education
      • Kenneth Teitelbaum becomes the Dean.
      • Carol McNulty becomes Interim Associate Dean for Academic Programs.
      • Susan Catapano becomes the Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership.
      • Tracy Hargrove becomes the Chair of the Department of Elementary, Middle Level, and Literacy Education.
    • College of Health and Human Services
      • Charles Hardy becomes the Dean.
      • Lori Messinger becomes the Director of the School of Social Work.
    • College of Arts and Sciences
      • Richard Ogle becomes the Chair of the Department of Psychology.
      • Earl Sheridan becomes the Chair of the Department of Public and International Affairs.
      • Chris Finelli becomes the Chair of the Department of Biology and Marine Biology.
      • Dave Monahan becomes the Chair of the Department of Film Studies.
      • Andrew Belser becomes the Chair of the Department of Theatre.
      • Patricia Turrisi becomes the Director of the Graduate Liberal Studies program.
      • Herbert Berg becomes the Director of the International Studies program.
      • Don Bushman becomes the Interim Chair of the Department of English.
    • Cara Cilano becomes the Chair of the University Studies Committee.
