At UNCW, we consider all those who have served or who are currently serving in any component of the U.S. Armed Forces to be military-affiliated students.
Sometimes, we use the term "student veterans" to encompass all stages of military careers, from those who are serving on active duty, to those who have separated or retired from military service, and to those who are part of a Reserve or National Guard unit.
We are proud to report that all branches of military service – Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, Army National Guard and Air National Guard – have representation in the current UNCW student population.
Some of our students are local and spend time in the Military Affairs Wing when on campus, while others are distance education students stationed around the world.
The Office of Military Affairs has three full-time staff members to assist you during your time at UNCW; staff offices are located in Veterans Hall 1029.
UNCW offers the following benefits to students who are currently serving in the military:
You may learn more about these benefits on our Prospective Students and Current Students pages.
As a military-affiliated student at UNCW, you are always welcome to use the resources available in the Military Affairs Wing in Veterans Hall 1029 (think free snacks and coffee, a microwave and refrigerator, plus comfy places to spread out and do homework).
You'll also be part of the Military-affiliated Student Listserv, a weekly email newsletter that keeps you up-to-date on military community events, both on campus and off; scholarship opportunities, many of which are designated specifically for military members who are currently serving; internship and job listings; and UNCW support services.
Military students who are interested in online programs at UNCW may choose from undergraduate degrees that are totally online, as well as online master's degrees or graduate certificates and licensure programs.

These tests can replace college credit for certain courses.
Testing is free for active duty and reserve service members, and testing services are also available for veterans and civilians.
