U.S. Families

Request an ESL student (a student who is learning English)

Being a Host Family to an ESL International Student is a great way to make international friendships and expand your horizons. Host Families meet with their student once every 2-3 weeks (this is not a Home-Stay program).

• To become a host family for an ESL student, please complete the Application

Request an international exchange or international degree student

The ISSS Host Family Program matches interested international exchange and international degree students with families in the Wilmington community. The host family and the student normally meet once a month and participate in activities determined by the student and the family. Students do not live with host families, but rather socialize with them occasionally.

Host families range from young families with children to single, retired individuals; but all all host families desire to help international students feel at home. For more information on the Host Family Program, please view our brochure (PDF).
