Once Upon An Opera and Sculpture on the Commons Exhibits April 11-July 30
The UNCW Association for Campus Entertainment (ACE) announces two exciting exhibits that will run from April 11-July 30. Once Upon an Opera in the Ann Flack Boseman Gallery and Sculpture on the Commons II, on display in the outdoor space directly outside of the Fisher Center
Once Upon an Opera features costumes from two UNCW musicals. Co-sponsored by the UNCW Department of Theatre and in collaboration with the UNCW Opera Outreach Program (UNCWOOP), this exhibit features the work of associate professor Mark D. Sorensen and fanciful costumes from the operas Hansel and Gretel and Cinderella, made by members of the Theatre Costume Program.
UNCWOOP provides vocal and dramatic operatic training to UNCW and high-school students, community members and young singers in culturally under-served areas. The exhibit includes sketches, formed pieces, footage from the production, and even a sneak preview from opera singer Heather Bobeck’s next role.
Sculpture on the Commons II features work from Intermediate and Advance Sculpture students and is supported in part by Art for the Masses.
