UNCW to Host Art for the Masses Nov. 17
Monday, November 12, 2012
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but at Art for the Masses, art lovers will pay no more than $250 for original paintings, sculptures, ceramics and other creations by more than 150 local artists, including students from UNCW, Cape Fear Community College and Kids Makin’ It.
Art for the Masses, the premier Wilmington art show and sale, is celebrating its 10th year with a new home on the campus of University of North Carolina Wilmington. The event, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, in the Burney and Warwick Centers, is free and open to the public.
UNCW’s Boseman Gallery and the Department of Art and Art History are sponsoring the event. The artists will retain 100 percent of the proceeds from their sales. The university plans to request $3 door donations from guests to support the UNCW public art program.
Event parking is free, and food and beverages will be available for purchase.
“Art for the Masses is a fantastic collaboration between the university, the local arts community, and area residents interested in buying original artwork,” said Jenni Harris, assistant to the chancellor for community partnerships. “UNCW is honored to host the event, and we look forward to welcoming artists and art lovers to our campus to celebrate the creativity that Art for the Masses inspires.”
