Family & Alumni Weekend 2014

Music Department Alumni Concert & Reception

On Friday, September 26, the Music Department hosted their fourth annual Alumni Concert featuring alumni and faculty musicians Bob Russell '77 and Micheal D'Angelo. Following the performance the Alumni Association hosted a dessert reception in the grand lobby of the Cultural Arts Building. The reception was enjoyed by our talented Music Department alumni as they had time to mingle with past professors and UNCW students, parents and community members.

Golden Wing Society Reunion

Golden Wing Reunion 2014On Saturday, September 27, the Alumni Association hosted the annual Golden Wing Society Reunion to honor those alumni who have reached or surpassed the milestone of their 50-year alumni status. Wilmington College graduates, classes of 1949-1964, joined their classmates for a brunch in Madeline Suite followed by a trolley tour of campus with Student Ambassadors. A complimentary trolley took alumni to and from Wrightsville Beach where they enjoyed beach games, listened to live music by Sai Collins and caught up with friends. The Alumni Association provided refreshments in souvenir cups along with snacks. Alumni rose to the challenge for the Best UNCW Vintage Shirt contest and the winner received a Sammy C. Hawk beach chair. Take a look at photos on Facebook or Flickr.

Legacy Pinning Ceremony

Legacy Pinning Ceremony 2014The honor of being a UNCW student was celebrated with 50 families on Saturday, September 24th, during Family and Alumni Weekend. Being a legacy student is not only an honor but also a part of a growing tradition within the UNCW community. 180 people gathered for the pinning ceremony to commemorate making UNCW a family tradition. Whether it was a sibling, grandparent or parent that attended UNCW, many different legacy students were in attendance. Some alumni parents shed tears of joy as they pinned their children.
