The black waters of the Waccamaw River are now being looked after by a new pair of eyes as the board of Winyah Rivers Foundation named Paula Reidharr the new Waccamaw Riverkeeper. Reidharr has a master’s degree in marine science from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

UNCW hoops postponed; Seahawk earns rookie of the week

Wednesday’s scheduled CAA men’sbasketball gamebetween host UNCW and Towson at Trask Coliseum has been postponed to 7 p.m. Feb. 10. Thanks in large part to a breakout performance against William & Mary, UNCW freshman forward Ryan Flowers was named the CAA Rookie of the Week.

Seahawks use time off to unwind
With no Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball game on Saturday night, UNCW coach Buzz Peterson took his team away from the practice court and into a new environment. In the past, his teams have played dodgeball or wiffelball as a way to unwind.
