Wilma W. Daniels Distinguished Lecture Featuring Earvin "Magic" Johnson

Magic Johnson Lecture  Magic Johnson Interview

Earvin "Magic" Johnson

The Wilma W. Daniels Distinguished Lecture Promoting Diversity and Tolerance, featuring Earvin "Magic" Johnson, included about 600 middle school students and teachers from the New Hanover County Schools. The Oct. 11 event highlighted the inclusive excellence that UNCW strives to achieve on campus and in the community.

Johnson captivated his audience with experiences about his motivation for striving for his dreams using highlights from his career as a successful businessman and NBA legend.

The students participate in the school system's Striving to Achieve Excellence (STAE) program, which focuses on helping students realize that college and their career goals are attainable.

Wilma Daniels, a local business leader and member of the UNCW Board of Trustees, funded the lecture to support the university's diversity efforts and to forge deeper connections between the local African-American community and the campus.
