Each Committee has four representatives who attend Leadership Council Meetings each month.
The Social Committee is in charge of planning social activities for the Teaching Fellows Program (i.e., Major Affair, December Social, any social get-togethers). The committee must plan at least 2 events each semester in order give all Teaching Fellows the option of choosing which events to attend.
The Service Committee is designed to set up volunteering opportunities on campus and throughout the community. It helps to establish a relationship between the UNCW Teaching Fellows and the surrounding schools and local communities. The committee must plan at least 2 events each semester in order give all Teaching Fellows the option of choosing which events to attend (i.e., Teacher’s Night Out, Work on Wilmington, Special Olympics, Halloween Carnival, Science Olympiad, etc…).
The Recruitment Committee has an extremely important job through-out the year. In the fall semester, they collect campus information used for packets sent to prospective students during Fall Break. They are responsible for attending the recruitment fairs sponsored by the university and partnership with middle schools to promote teacher education. They coordinate student tours from visiting elementary and middle schools. Recruitment also publishes the semester newsletter and advertisements for various events.
The Fundraising Committee will organize and facilitate at least one fundraising event each semester. The committee must plan at least 2 events each semester in order give all Teaching Fellows the option of choosing which events to attend (i.e., Battleship Run, Tea Party, and Yard Sale).
