About TEAS

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) measures basic essential skills in the academic content area of reading, mathematics, science, English and language usage. The test is intended for use primarily with adult nursing program applicants. The objectives assessed on the TEAS exam are those which nurse educators deemed most appropriate and relevant to measure entry level skills and abilities of nursing program applicants. Test Duration: approximately 3.5 hours. Scratch paper and pencils are provided.

Valid ID Required: driver's license, or passport, or military ID must be presented at the time of testing.

TEAS Testing Dates

UNCW School Nursing Candidates ONLY: Please refer to the PreLicensure Nursing website for testing administration periods. Students MUST take the TEAS Test within the test administration periods. Note: Only ONE TEAS Test may be taken during each testing administration period.

--Non-UNCW students can take the TEAS test year round. Please contact our office for availability at 910-962-7444. Individual testing is offered Monday - Friday.

Individual Testing

This testing environment is a designated testing room with four work stations separated by dividers. Maximum: four test takers per session.

COST: $100 beginning July 1, 2015. (online registration requires a $3 convenience fee). Offered Monday through Friday at 8:30am and 12:30pm.

LOCATION: University Testing Services, Depaolo Hall, Room 1021.

Note: Please refer to the PreLicensure Nursing website for testing administration period deadlines.

Group Testing:

This testing environment consists of a open computer lab room with approximately 12 rows and 4 seats per row. Maximum: 25 test takers per session. The TEAS Group Test is available only to UNCW School of Nursing candidates.

COST: $80. (online registration add a $3 convenience fee).


- Mon 4/11/16 – 12:00pm-5:00pm (Test at 1:00pm)

- Thur 4/21/16 – 7:30am-12:30pm (Test at 8:30am)

LOCATION: UNC Wilmington School of Nursing, Room 2061.

Note: the last day to register for the Group Tests is one week prior to the test. However, spaces for group tests are limited and may be filled prior to the test dates. Once the group testing spots are filled, examinees must register for individual testing on the available dates indicated above.

How to Register

On-Campus Testing. Reigster online: TEAS Registration.

Candidates can also call University Testing Services at 910-962-7444. Note: payment to UNCW is due when you register for the test. Advance appointments are strongly recommended.

Off-Campus Testing. TEAS testing is available at certain locations throughout the U.S. Please visit ATI Testing or call 800-667-7531. At the ATI website scroll to the lower right-hand corner of the page and select "Register for TEAS with PSI".

IMPORTANT: after completing the off-campus TEAS test CONTACT ATI to have your scores sent to the UNC Wilmington School of Nursing.

Payment Methods, Refunds, and Reschedule Policy

The individual TEAS tests costs $100 (online registration adds a $3 convenience fee). The Group TEAS tests costs $80 (online registration adds a $3 convenience fee). No refunds will be given. As a general policy, University Testing Services does not provide refunds.In extenuating circumstances, we reserve the right to charge a $15 processing fee for funds issued due to cancelations and/or rescheduling.

RESCHEDULE. For online registrants: at least 24 hours prior to your appointment, you can reschedule at http://www.registerblast.com/uncw/Exam.  Click on:  My Registrations.  Enter your email address.  Reschedule your appointment.

 Also you can reschedule your appointment by calling University Testing Services at 910-962-7444 at least one business day in advance. Rescheduling is not permitted on the day of the test.
