Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core)
Core Replaces Praxis I after July 2014
All students seeking admission into the Watson College of Education Teacher Education Programs are required to take and pass all three sections of the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) Tests* unless SAT or ACT scores allow exemption. The Praxis Core replaces the Praxis 1. After July 2014, all students must the take Praxis Core, unless exempt, for admission into Watson. Scores from Praxis 1 and Praxis Core may not be combined for entry to Watson.
Core Tests are used for licensing and certification processes and measure basic skills in reading, writing and mathematics. They can be taken as separate tests or as a combined test in a single testing session. See Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators information See also Watson School of Education Core information. Test Time: approximately 5 hours for 3 tests or approximately 2 hours for 1 test. Scratch paper and pencils are provided to each tester.
Valid ID Form Required: driver's license, or passport, or military ID must be presented at the time of testing.
How to Register
Register online for the Praxis Core test. with an online registration system that offers 24/7 access to register for both computer-delivered and paper-delivered tests in one place. Test takers can reschedule, change their test center or cancel a test online. Payment options include PayPal® and e-check in addition to credit/debit card. Note: payment is due when you register for the test.
Dates and Times Offered
Praxis Core tests are offered in three-week segments Monday through Friday. Start time for the combined test is 8:00am or 10:00am.. Start times for the individual tests are 8:30am, 10:30am, 12:30pm and 2:30pm. Friday afternoon appointments are not available from the first week in May to the first week in August.
Cost, Refunds, and Rescheduling

(This does not include the day of your test or the day of your request.
