Who Are We?
I AM UNCW
No matter what department or role you are in, you are a valuable part of UNCW. We are often (though not often enough!) recognized for our work, but who are the Seahawks behind the work? How did he or she get to UNCW? Let us know whom we should write about next, a colleague or peer who "bleeds teal" – and we'll honor all our profiles with a special luncheon at the end of the year.

Katrin Wesner, Director, Abrons Student Health Center
Katrin Wesner
How long have you been at UNCW? Where were you pre-UNCW?
I joined UNCW on January 24, 2007. Before that I was at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY.
What drew you here?
I met Vice Chancellor Leonard at a conference and she told me all
about UNCW and that there was an opening for the Health Center Director -
it sounded like a great opportunity, so I applied.
What has changed the most since your first days on campus?
Even in my relatively short time there has been so much
construction, making campus even better for everyone. I especially like
the Cross City Trail and the opportunities for outdoor activity it
brings.
What is your favorite part of your job? Watching students learn to take charge of their own health care
What was your most surprising moment on campus?
Seeing a student bring a surf board with them to the Student Health Center
What would the title of a book about your UNCW experience be?
Wash Your Hands ... and Other Healthy Hints
If you could be a _____ For a Day, what other job on campus would you choose?
An advisor, so I could help empower students to find their passion.
What one word do you hope your colleagues say describes you?
Optimistic
