Innovation House, along with Cornerstone Hall and Honors House, is a part of a vibrant community referred to as Tri-House. Built in 1998, Innovation House is a co-educational building that houses 100 students, in groups of 25 per single-sex wing. Innovation House is also home to two dynamic, faculty-led learning communities: Hollywood East and Waterways. Hollywood East is a learning community geared toward first-year students with creative interests and skills in music, creative writing, acting, and/or film or television production. Waterways is a community that provides first-year students with an introduction to environmental issues of the sea and land, including sustainability, global warming theories, ecology and shifting climates, and the impact of global melt/rising sea levels. All UNCW students who fulfill the eligibility requirements are welcome to complete an application to live in this unique environment. Amenities of Innovation House include: free laundry machines on each floor, security cameras in the front entrance, perimeters, and stairwells, vending and ice machines in the main lobby, programming space for community building, multiple flat screen televisions in the main lobby, and recycling bins.
