Graduate Assistant for Housing Publications
The Office of Housing and Residence Life (HRL) is currently accepting resumes for the open position of Graduate Assistant in Housing Publications. The position requires 25 office hours during the fall and spring semesters and 30-35 hours during the summer months. The person in this position, as an integral part of the Housing and Residence Life Central Office Staff, is expected to maintain consistent office hours and attend occasional weekend hours for large university events.
Housing and Residence Life is one of the largest auxiliary services departments on the campus. Totally dependent on generated income, Housing and Residence Life has responsibility for a complex system of operations and services which includes a maximum of 3,487 students in 8 traditional style residence halls, 7 suite style, and 26 apartment buildings and an operating budget exceeding $10 million annually.
The Graduate Assistant for Housing Publications will be responsible for the monthly edit, design and printing of Roomers, the UNCW Housing and Residence Life resident student newsletter, the quarterly edit and printing of Roomers Plus, the UNCW HRL parent newsletter, the yearly review and revision of housing contract materials, the creation of HRL flyers, posters and other marketing materials, the development and distribution of housing training materials and periodic Web page text revision. This position will also assist in the management and promotion of UNCW’s National Student Exchange Program. Further, the Graduate Assistant in Housing Publications will assist the HRL Administrative Staff and will be assigned other duties as needed.
The candidate should have knowledge of basic design skills using PageMaker, In Design or similar software, Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML editing, and feel comfortable working within a networked computing environment. The ability to work independently or within a team, handle multiple assignments, and show initiative for new projects is highly sought.
