Do you feel intimidated or lost in the weight room? Want to start a new semester workout program? Need someone to motivate you or help with your training? The Personal Training Program gives individuals the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a qualified personal trainer to develop a fitness program specifically designed to meet their needs, interests, and time commitments. |
Services include: comprehensive fitness assessment, fitness consultations, one-on-one or partner instruction on selected machines, free weights, cardiovascular equipment, flexibility training, program development, and tips keeping your workout fun and effective.
These 60-minute sessions with a fitness trainer are designed to develop a fitness program specifically for the individual client.
Personal Training Registration
A fitness screening must be completed prior to scheduling a personal training session.
All fitness assessments/screenings are by appointment only. Schedule an appointment at the Harris Teeter Fitness Center desk located in the Student Recreation Center.

Training Policies/Procedures
- All sessions will be conducted at the UNCW Student Recreation Center by current Department of Campus Recreation Personal Training staff only.
- Training sessions will be a maximum of 60 minutes in length.
- Each client will have a personal training card that contains the number of sessions purchased and the client's trainer. After each training session, both the client and the trainer will initial and date the card.
- Cancellations must be made a minimum of 24 hours prior to the scheduled training session or patron will be charged.
- Cancellations may be made by calling the Student Recreation Center at 962-7443 between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday, or by calling the personal trainer or using email. Every effort will be made to reschedule a training session according to the mutual availability of the client and trainer.
- Training sessions expire 90 days after date of purchase, unless otherwise approved for extension by the Assistant Director for Fitness.
Packages
All personal training fees must be paid in full prior to starting program. Trainers may not accept any direct or additional payment for their services.
Refunds
Fitness Personal training sessions are non-transferable and non-refundable. Medical conditions, which cause a delay in completing purchased sessions beyond 90 days will be refunded if a physician's note is provided.
