The pool is available for use at designated times by UNCW students, faculty, staff and paid members with a valid UNCW ID card.
Procedures
- Members are permitted to bring two guests to the pool.
- All guest must be at least 17 years of age (proof of age will be requested) during the academic year.
- Dependent children of faculty and staff members, 17 years and older, must present their UNCW dependent ID card and proof of age for non-accompanied use of the pool
- During designated Family days and times, guest may be dependent children (16 years and younger of faculty and staff). Dependent children 16 years and younger must be accompanied by their parents. Children that are non-swimmers must wear Coast Guard approved personal flotation devices (PFD) or be attended by their parent at all times.
- Family swim days are designated as Saturdays, Sundays, University Breaks and summer sessions.
- All patrons must follow the pool check-in procedures.
- During UNCW or other swim meets, recreational swim hours may not be offered.
Policies
- It is the responsibility of all persons using the pool to familiarize themselves with and abide by the rules and policies set forth for this facility.
- No student or faculty/staff member may use the pool except during class hours, recreational swim hours, or with permission from the Aquatics Director.
- At no time will anyone be allowed to swim without the presence of a lifeguard, PE Instructor, Aquatics Director, Athletics Facility Manager or other persons appointed by Aquatics Director.
- Permission for group rental use of the pool by non-university individuals must be coordinated through the Aquatics Director and Athletics Facility Manager.
- Scuba tanks may be used by UNCW certified divers only and with permission from the University Diving and Water Safety Officer. Scuba tanks may not be used during recreational swim hours.
- Soap shower must be taken before entering the pool.
- No glass or bottles are allowed on the pool deck.
- No street shoes allowed on pool deck.
- No running, pushing, shoving or horseplay on the pool deck, in the water or in the locker rooms.
- No chewing gum in the pool.
- No foul or abusive language.
- No underwater swimming for distance or no prolonged breath holding allowed.
- No one is permitted to use the diving boards. (Diving boards are for UNCW Diving Team use only).
- Children that are non-swimmers must wear Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Devices (PFD) or be attended by their parent at all times. *Water wings are not Coast Guard approved and are not permitted.
