The Campus Activities & Involvement Center (CAIC) is your gateway to entertainment, involvement, and leadership on campus. As part of the Division of Student Affairs, we are creating experiences for life by providing opportunities for students to participate actively, grow personally, and explore new ideas and interests through a variety of entertainment and involvement experiences. Our staff, and the students with whom we work, are committed to creating a vibrant campus community filled with diverse activities for all students.

Fisher Student Center 2029

Fisher Student Center 2029 is the home of the Involvement Center, a student organization's number one place to be in-the-know and to utilize resources available to all student organziations.

Check Your Box!

All registered student organizations have a mailbox in the Involvement Center. This box should be checked WEEKLY!!! Your mailbox is the primary way the Campus Activities & Involvement Center communicates important information such as when and how to re-register, Involvement Carnival information, Leadership Awards information, funding opportunities, and more.

What else gets put in your box?
Clubs may also communicate to each other through putting fliers in boxes.
SGA uses your box to send you account and funding information.
You may also have recieve mail from off-campus addresses. Bank statements, magazines, information from affiliates, etc. can all be sent to your student organziation's on-campus address in FSC 2029.

Student Organization Resource Packages!

With the assistance of the Student Government Association (SGA), the Involvement Center is able to offer numerous resources for registered student organizations FREE of charge! One great example of this is our Student Organization Resource Package. Each semester registered organizations are provided with free access to the following as part of this package:

• Button Maker - CAIC will provide you with supplies for 50 buttons per semester. You do the design work and we'll show you how to transform it into a great marketing tool that your members can wear all over campus! To help with your layout we have created this template which will give you the idea of what size to create your design for: Template. (Alternate template for .doc ability click here.)
• Poster Printer - The Involvement Center has a large-scale poster maker (think "movie size posters 24" x 36" or smaller) and we will print up to 5 per semester for your organizational needs. Again, you do the deisgn work and we'll do the printing. Just bring your design to the Center on a CD or flash drive or email it to us at activities@uncw.edu.
• Helium Tank - Have you ever tried stuffing helium balloons into your car without losing at least one? Or perhaps you've tried driving in traffic without being able to see through your rear window because of all your colorful decorations floating in the car? Well, we can sympathize! To help you avoid those risks we provide access to a helium tank on campus. You can fill up 50 balloons per semester (but you have to bring the balloons and the string...).
• Lots More! In addition to the items noted above, registered student organizations have access to all the resources noted below.

Banner Poles

CAIC maintains banner poles at seven various locations around campus (see locations below). These banner poles are great ways for registered student organizations to advertise upcoming events, recruitment opportunities, and much more. Here are some basic banner policies that all users should be aware of:

- Banners are typically made using one full-size flat bedsheet.

- Banners must be approved by CAIC staff at the time the reservation is made - meaning, reservations have to be done in person and we need to see the completed banner.

- Reservations can be made for up to two weeks (14 days).

- All banners must have the name of the sponsoring organization clearly noted.

- Banners may not be taped to poles or walls at any of our locations (please use string, zip ties, or the like so that banners may be easily cut down at the end of the reservation).

- Banners must be removed within 24 hours of their event or they will risk being thrown away.

- When decorating banners, heavy markers (Texas Markers) and paint may not be used inside our facilities. CAIC has installed a "banner board" on the wall of the Bookstore loading dock (behind the Fisher Student Center) where students can clip their banners up on the wall and design without fear of ruining the surface behind the sheet.

Supplies and Resources

The supplies in the Involvement Center are free and there for you to use.
If your student organziation has a copy card you can use the copy machine and the paper (in a variety of colors) located in paper divider unit next to the copy machine.
Banner paper in a variety of colors is available near the copy machine.
Markers, sidewalk chalk, and other supplies are located in the tall cabinet across from the copier.
Computers, printers, and a scanner line the wall.

Representatives from our student organizations are free to borrow supplies and resources from the Invovlement Center, however we just ask that you check them out through the Invovlement Specialist at our reception desk.  This check-out system allows us to track which resources are in the highest demand so we can be sure to keep them well-stocked for your use.  We also ask that you bring your ID with you.

The Campus Activities & Involvement Center staff are also available to help and serve you and your organization in an advising capacity. It may be especially helpful when planning an event for your organization to set up an advising appointment with one of our Involvement Specialists or professional staff members.
