The Irwin Belk Distinguished Professorship in Nursing
The Irwin Belk Distinguished Professorship in Nursing was established in 2008 by Irwin “Ike” Belk, a business executive and higher education advocate. This professorship is designed to promote health and nursing care for underserved and/or vulnerable populations in rural southeastern North Carolina with mental health disorders and other chronic illnesses. This professorship is currently held by Dr. Kemppainen, a faculty member with a distinguished record of teaching and scholarship in the field of mental health and HIV/AIDS nursing.
The McNeill Distinguished Professorship in Nursing
The NcNeill Distinguished Professorship in Nursing was established in 2010 by John A. “Sandy” McNeill and his wife Deborah to further their strong legacy of support for UNCW. The purpose of this professorship is to advance interdisciplinary research, community partnerships, evidence-based nursing practice, and other professional and scholarly activities that promote a successful aging process in older adults. The search for the McNeill Distinguished Professorship is currently underway.
