The Staff Senate’s March 2010 Teal Spotlight: Ron Annis
The Teal Spotlight, presented by the UNCW Staff Senate, highlights the dedicated staff members on the campus of UNCW. The staff member is chosen at random for an interview. For the month of March, 2010 Ron Annis in HVAC Maintenance was selected for the Teal Spotlight.
In previous years, Ron worked with an HVAC company contracted by the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. It was there he began his five year union training and certification in heating and air. Ron moved to Wilmington in 2003, continued his profession with Southeastern HVAC services. One year later he applied, and was hired, at UNC Wilmington. He thoroughly enjoys working at UNCW and continues to enjoy the university environment of which he was a part at the University of Cincinatti.
At UNCW, Ron responds to all assigned work orders from the entire campus. Because our buildings were constructed at different times, Ron mentioned that many of the heating and air systems vary across campus. Therefore, keeping up with new technologies in order to properly service these varied systems can be challenging at times. Ron was quick to point out that he thoroughly enjoys the challenge of the troubleshooting aspect that coincides with repairs. A memorable moment for him is when Tami Violette nominated Annis for his excellent customer service skills to tenants as they returned to the remodeled TAC.
When Ron is not on campus making all of us a little more comfortable with the temperature in our dorm rooms, office spaces, etc., he enjoys spending quality time with his wife Melissa and their German Shepherd,Olhof.
A free lunch certificate, donated by UNCW Campus Dining Service to Dub’s Cafe, was presented to Ron Annis in appreciation for a job well done. Congratulations to Ron Annis, this month’s Teal Spotlight.
