Research & Service Opportunities

Research Participation

Student Research Participation - As a psychology student at UNCW, you may be eligible to earn credit for your classes by participating in psychological research using the online research sign-up system.  Students enrolled in PSY105 must complete 4 credit hours of out-of-class activity, and one rewarding way to do this is by participating in research.  Students in other psychology classes may also be eligible to earn extra-credit points for research participation.  Click on the link above for more information, and to access the research sign-up system.

Adult Participation Pool - Faculty in psychology interested in the processes of aging are developing an adult participant pool. We are looking for people who want to be a part of this exciting opportunity to learn about, and contribute to aging research at UNCW. Men and women of all ages, and particularly those above the age of 55, are encouraged to participate.Click the link above to see current research opportunities.

Student Research Opportunities for Undergraduates

The Department of Psychology at UNCW emphasizes the importance of scientific research in shaping our discipline. Faculty members encourage active research participation by students. If you are interested in learning more about the science of psychology or if you want to set your job or graduate school application above the others, get involved in research! Talk with your professors about their research. Attend Psi Chi Faculty Research talks. Consult the list below of areas currently studied by our faculty. Click on a link to see a list of faculty with that research interest, then talk with a faculty member about the possibility of working with them on one of their projects. The main avenues for student research are Directed Individual Study (PSY 491) and Honors Work in Psychology (PSY 499).
