Undergraduate Minor in International Affairs

The Department of Public and International Affairs requires students minoring in International Affairs to have 21 semester hours distributed as follows:

Required Courses:
PLS 220 Introduction to International Relations (including participation in Great Decisions Seminar)
PLS 425 International Policy

Choose 3 courses from the following (9 hours)
PLS 222 Contemporary International Political Issues
PLS 426 International Law
PLS 422 US Foreign Policy
PLS 423 National Security Policy
PLS 495 Great Decisions
PLS 498 Internship in Political Science (placement in an international agency, State Department, NGO)

Choose 1 course from the following (3 hours)
PLS 230 Introduction to Comparative Government and Politics
PLS 338 Politics of the Middle East
PLS 331 Politics of Developing Nations
PLS 335 European Political Systems
PLS 330 Political Systems of Africa
PLS 332 Politics of Central America and the Caribbean
PLS 336 Politics of Eastern Europe and Russia
PLS 339 Politics of Asia

Choose 1 course from the following (3 hours)
PLS 334 Revolutionary Movements
HST 301 Foreign Policy of the United States
HST 380 Twentieth Century International Relations
HST 379 European International Relations
ENC 426 International Trade and Finance
MGT 352 International Management


Students must earn at least a "C" (2.0) average in courses counted for a minor in Political Science.
