For Current Students
The Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography is a small, close-knit
community of scholars, dedicated to the communication and exploration of a
variety of topics in physics. The appeal of a small program derives in part from
close faculty-student interactions, as well as opportunities for students to
participate in faculty-directed research. Both are continuing traditions of UNCW
physics.
There are many opportunities to do physics or physical oceanography at UNCW
and elsewhere. You should consider things like internships, summer research,
joining the SPS (Society of Physics Students), competing in contests, going to
regional and national conferences, etc. Also, there are several scholarship
opportunities which you might consider. Some are need based and requrie
application to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. Others are granted
based upon merit.
Feel free to explore these links and to stop in DL
217, the physics major room, to meet other majors. Majors can link online to
each other, or alumni.
