INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENTS TO ACCESS AND UPDATE W-4 AND NC-4 WITHHOLDINGS ONLINE (PDF)

Through this simple online process, all employees can review and/or make changes to their W-4 Federal or NC-4 State Withholdings at anytime, anywhere there is internet access. Access is only available through a secure login. Updates to W-4 Federal and NC-4 State Withholdings are entered with an effective date and each employee will receive an immediate vertification of all changes. Signed, paper copies of W-4 Forms or NC-4 Forms are no long required in the Payroll Department.

The Payroll Department provides all tax documentation needed for an employee to file the necessary tax returns to the United States Federal Government (Internal Revenue Service) and the North Carolina State Government (Department of Revenue).

A W-2 Wage and Tax Statement lists gross wages and taxes withheld for each calendar year. For current active employees who have consented to receive their W-2 Form online, these forms are available online by mid-January. For all current employees who have not consented to receive their W-2 Form online and all former employees, these forms are mailed to the primary address on file by the January 31st deadline as mandated by the Internal Revenue Service

If you do not receive your W-2 by February 15th and cannot access SeaPort or SeaNet, you can request a duplicate by emailing the Payroll Department. (payroll@uncw.edu). The duplicate will be mailed within two weeks.

A 1042-S Foreign Person's US Source Income Subject to Withholding Form lists wages paid to a non-resident alien employee who is eligible to take advantage of treaty benefits while employed in the United States. The non-resident alien will use this form when paying taxes in his or her country of residence.
