Partnership in Action Conference – March 31

PDS hosted its inaugural Partnership in Action Conference focused on “Innovation in Teaching and Learning” on March 31. A group of 75 participants from nine school districts and the Watson College participated in the event, which featured a series of sessions to showcase innovative practice.

Donna Teuber was keynote speaker. Tueber is a respected leader in the field of educational technology with a passion for using design thinking to help schools implement innovative practices that support engaged student learning.

PDS Director Somer Lewis coordinated the event in collaboration with Robert Smith, WCE’s Wendy and Dell Murphy Distinguished Professor of Education.

Lewis was pleased with participation in the event. “We hope the conference will serve as a starting point for the creation of a network within PDS whose main focus is the support and sharing of innovative practice,” she said.

Partnership Teacher Celebration Held April 27

More than 150 partnership teachers, site coordinators, student interns, university supervisors and staff attended a dinner hosted by WCE’s PDS office on April 27. The event is held each semester to celebrate the college’s collaborative work with partnership schools, teachers and interns.

Watson College Dean Van Dempsey, associate professor Dennis Kubasko, PDS Director Somer Lewis, WCE Director of Professional Experiences Cindy Wiseman and WCE student intern Brittany Colagerakis spoke at the event. Other highlights included a slideshow of internship experiences and partnership teachers’ reflections on their experiences mentoring future teachers.
