Summer 2017 programs include:

  • Make Room for Girls (ages 8-9): Learn how to use engineering design principles to optimize your space.
  • DIY Maker Camp (ages 10-11): Take arts and crafts to the next level by incorporating engineering into electronics, 3-D printing, woodworking and more.
  • Girls Around the Globe (ages 12-14): Gain a global perspective about different ways that female engineers can change the world.
  • Sports Engineering (ages 12-14): Discover how engineering influences the way different sports are designed and played and then engineer your own game.

To view all choices, visit the Engineering and Robotics website.

Junior Seahawk Academy

The Junior Seahawk Academy is designed for students ages 10-14 from economically disadvantaged and underrepresented populations to develop interests in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), health care and teacher education. Participants gain experience through hands-on labs, research projects, classroom instruction and field trips to help students prepare for college while experiencing UNCW life. Students also participate in mentoring sessions and other fun, creative activities.

Jr. Seahawk Academy will be offered from June 26 to July 7, 2017. Application information can be found online.

MarineQuest

UNCW has the honor of being the state’s coastal university. What better place for your child to be exposed to cutting-edge ocean research than through MarineQuest summer programs? More than 30 options are available for youth between the ages of 4 and 17.

Programs for summer 2017 include:

  • Treasure SEAkers (ages 7-9): Plow coastal waters in search of sunken ships and buried treasure while learning the history of seafaring along our coast.
  • Coast Trek (ages 10-12): Travel back in time to the age of giant prehistoric sharks and discover how North Carolina's coast has changed over the years.
