Poverty Simulations at Watson College

Faculty from the Watson College will provide two Poverty Simulations during the fall semester to help pre-service teachers build the skills and competencies needed to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse population of students.

This is the fifth year the program has been offered. To date, more than 1,500 UNCW students and community members have participated in the simulation, which provides an opportunity to get a glimpse into some of the challenges families living in poverty face every day.

Fall simulations will be offered on Tuesday, Oct. 21 and Wednesday, Nov. 19.  Both events will be held in Room 162 from 5:30 – 8 p.m.

Twenty volunteers are needed for each simulation. Students who have already participated are eligible to volunteer. To register as a participant or volunteer, visit https://selectsurvey.uncw.edu/SelectSurveyNET//TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=m240mo92
