Paul Cuadros to Speak on Campus April 24

Paul Cuadros is author of A Home on the Field, How One Championship Team Inspires Hope for the Revival of Small Town America

The Watson College Office of Teacher Education and Outreach in collaboration with Office of Centro-Hispano will host a book discussion and reception with author Paul Cuadros on April 24. The event will be in EB 162 from 6 to 7 p.m. The event is free and open to all faculty, staff, students and community members.

Cuadros is an award-winning investigative reporter whose work has appeared in the New York Times, the Huffington Post, Time Magazine and other national and local publications. His research focuses on the impact of Latino migration and emerging Latino communities in rural poultry-processing towns in the South.

Cuadros is author of A Home on the Field, How One Championship Team Inspires Hope for the Revival of Small Town America, whichtells the story of Siler City, N.C.  as it copes and struggles with Latino immigration through the lives of a predominantly Latino high school soccer team.

Currently an associate professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Cuadros continues to write about immigration and the Latino community.
