New and Noteworthy

March Maintenance Window

Monday, February 29, 2016

With Spring Break just around the corner, ITS is preparing to implement several projects which will impact the campus during this pre-approved downtime window.

Starting the evening of Friday, March 4th at 5PM, ITS is updating firmware on the campus core switches.  All network connectivity will be affected during this time; including connection to the internet and remote/VPN access.  Phone services will also experience interruptions during this time.

On Saturday, March 5th, various systems and services will be updated with the latest security patches and product upgrades.  One update particularly worthy of note: We will be eliminating the multiple login prompts to access your email via the web while you’re on the campus network!

On Sunday, March 6th, ITS will be continuing to perform testing of updated systems.  While unlikely, it is possible that some services could be impacted during some of this testing.  Please remember that keeping our network and systems updated with the latest software and security patches is critical for the function and protection of the campus network, systems, and data.   We will do everything possible to insure that the duration and impact to campus IT services is minimized during this maintenance weekend.

If you experience any issues outside of these maintenance windows, please contact the TAC (tac@uncw.edu910-962-4357).
