Friday, March 11, 2016

UNCW will welcome Seahawk fans to Trask Coliseum on Sunday, March 13, to join the newly-crowned 2016 Colonial Athletic Association champion UNCW men’s basketball team for a "Selection Sunday" celebration.

The Trask Coliseum doors will open at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday and, following entertainment by the UNCW cheerleaders, dance team and pep band, a live feed of the CBS Selection Show will be aired on the massive Trask Coliseum Video Board from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Concessions will be available throughout the show.

“Please join me and the entire Seahawk community this Sunday as we find out the name of our first NCAA opponents, and once again show the team what kind of teal spirit they have behind them,” said Chancellor Jose V. Sartarelli.

The Seahawks, who won their fifth CAA title on Monday evening with a thrilling 80-73 victory over Hofstra in Baltimore, returned to a warm welcome on Tuesday, March 8 and will learn who their opponent will be in the 2016 NCAA Tournament on what is known on "Selection Sunday."

"We wouldn't be celebrating our first trip to the NCAA in ten years without the support and enthusiasm the Seahawk community has offered us along the way," commented Jimmy Bass, the UNCW athletic director. "It seemed only right to have our fans with us when we learn where and when our first tournament game will be – that's the next step of this journey we're all on together!"
