The University of North Carolina Wilmington ranks in the top 10 for nursing and education online degree programs, according to SR Education Group’s 2015 Top Online Degrees.
SR Education Group, an online education research publisher, ranked UNCW seventh in nursing and 10th in education online degree programs. Colleges were considered based on competitiveness, acceptance and enrollment rates, accreditation and tuition.
The online nursing program rankings were also based on the NCLEX exam, the main examination for licensing nurses. UNCW’s NCLEX pass rate was 94 percent in 2014. Schools had to have a rate of 90 percent to be considered. UNCW’s College of Health and Human Services offers a 12-month online RN to BSN program, which provides students skills needed to compete and advance in the healthcare field and a foundation for career advancement into administrative, research consulting and teaching positions.
Watson College of Education offers an online B.A. in elementary education and an online M.Ed. in elementary education; middle grades education; instructional technology; and curriculum, instruction and supervision. The college recently announced a new online Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program to help meet the market demand for high school science and mathematics teachers in North Carolina. The new program is designed to appeal to working professionals.
