The faculty of the Computer Science and Information Systems & Operations Management Departments have chosen Mr. Uche Iheadindu as their Outstanding graduate for the 2013-2014 academic year. Uche entered the MS CSIS program in Spring of 2012. He came with very little technical background, but adapted very quickly and excelled in the program. During his time here, he excelled academically, and was respected and liked by his peers and the faculty. He helped start the MSCSIS Graduate Student Association, and was a leader among the students. Uche gave his time to others and helped when he could. "He went out of his way to help me in my first year in the program. He not only made me feel welcome in the program, but he took the time to help with some classwork." Rich Mautz, MSCSIS 2015.

Tufanna Bradley Thomas (Spring 2004) recently started in a new position with the ResCare Workforces Services. ResCare Workforce Services, a division of ResCare, a national human services company that offers services to people of all ages and abilities to help make their lives more independent. The company serves more than a million people each year with its nearly 50,000 employees at thousands of locations. Tufanna is the Project Director for the Cape Fear area, serving Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender counties through a contract with the Cape Fear Workforce Development Board to provide Workforce Investment Act (WIA) services to adults and dislocated workers. She has a staff of 12 individuals to help her in this role. For the past five years, Tufanna was the Strategic Director forthe New Hanover County Blue Ribbon Commission on the Prevention of Youth Violence. And before that, she served as Executive Director for Girls Inc.of Wilmington. Congratulations, Tufanna! We wish you all the best and thank you for your loyal service to the area!

Congratulations to Dana McKoy (Fall 2010) on her new position as the Director of Annual Giving at the Cape Fear Community College Foundation. In the position, McKoy will serve as a primary contact for annual scholarship donors and direct annual giving initiatives for college alumni, faculty and staff, as well as individuals and businesses in the community, according to a news release.

Adam Ferguson (MPA ’04) passed the Florida Bar Exam. He is currently working for a Maritime Law Firm in Miami, but would like to parlay that experience back into the public sector or port authority at some point in the future.
Suzanne Gooding accepted a position with the City of Wilmington as Sustainability Project Manager. The position will involve analyzing data and researching best practices and processes in order to advance the City towards becoming more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.
