Campus Feedback via IdeaScale
Summer Enrollment Campaign
Dear UNCW community,
Thank you for your interest in the work of the University Innovation Council (UIC). The UIC solicits campus input on specified topics of interest using crowdsourcing through Web-based IdeaScale “campaigns.” The intent of this communication is to summarize campus responses received on the topic of “Strategies to Enhance Summer Enrollment” and report on actions taken by the UIC as a result.
The UIC campaign report (PDF) outlines statistics associated with the summer enrollment campaign as well as key themes among the responses. The topic in this case aligned with a current major campus initiative to rethink UNCW’s summer session and programming. The report of the Summer Innovation Initiative Task Force has been forwarded to the UIC’s Technical Support Team for implementation on several of the Task Force’s recommendations. The UIC campaign report has also been forwarded to the Technical Support Team so that the campaign input may inform that group’s work.
In addition to this referral, the UIC campaign also generated multiple comments on the marketing of summer. Therefore, the UIC campaign report has also been shared with the Office of University Relations, for consideration by that office’s personnel. Additionally, building on a summer 2013 pilot project, an effort is underway to increase our marketing of summer school via social media. Campaign input also reinforced the importance of another campus priority, to expand our online course offerings, and efforts in support of that outcome will continue.
One important theme present in the UIC campaign input addresses the enrollment in summer session by non-UNCW students. A specific recommendation emerging from the UIC is to identify and post on the summer school website’s in-state course equivalencies of all summer course offerings, so that prospective students can see those that are transferable.
We appreciate the participation of nearly 1,000 campus community members in the UIC’s “Strategies to Enhance Summer Enrollment” campaign. While that IdeaScale campaign has closed, additional thoughts about this topic may be sent to email@example.com. We invite you to participate in our next campaign, which will be launched in early spring 2014.
