The University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for the position of Math Services Coordinator. Math Services is one of four programs within the University Learning Center, which also houses Learning Services, Writing Services, and Supplemental Instruction.
The Math Services Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of Student Achievement Services and will oversee math support for students. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty and professional staff to provide peer-to-peer math support to assist students in the enhancement of math skills and strategies. Responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of a drop-in tutoring and computer lab; selecting, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating a student staff of math tutors; promoting and publicizing Math Services as well as communicating with faculty and staff, particularly in the Math Department, about the needs for math/statistics tutoring; working with clients; assessing the effectiveness of Math services; promoting Math Services to all students and faculty (classroom visits, flyers, etc.); keeping materials and software available and up to date for both tutors and students; collaborating with other Coordinators in the University Learning Center to develop effective services and outreach on campus; working in partnership with other student support services, including Disability Services and University College; providing general support for the activities and services of The University Learning Center; and, assisting the Associate Director with other administrative duties as needed.
Required Qualifications:
A master’s degree is required, preferably in Math, Math Education or Statistics. Three or more years experience in learning assistance, teaching or related field required. Salary is competitive and the position includes a full benefits package.
