Fellows are expected to engage in services for a diverse client base and diverse campus organizations.  Respect for cultural, intellectual, psycho-social and interpersonal differences is expected to inform the Fellow’s practice.  In addition, depending on individual interests and Center needs, opportunities may also exist for additional administrative duties or structured experiences outside the Center to better understand the role and function of university psychologists within Student Affairs and the university community.

Fellows will receive training and supervision designed to prepare them for a broad range of roles within a university counseling center and professional psychology.  The program is intended to provide the experience required for licensure in North Carolina and in most states (2000 hours).  Fellows are encouraged to be attentive to the requirements of the Licensure Boards for the locales in which they plan to practice.

Postdoctoral fellows will receive a minimum of 2 hours of clinical supervision per week while engaging in training seminars, case conferences and other staff activities.  Applicants must have completed an APA-accredited counseling or clinical psychology doctoral program including an accredited internship and completed dissertation prior to beginning the Fellowship.  If the doctoral degree is not noted on the transcript, a letter from the selected Fellow’s Program Director attesting to completion of all degree requirements with a degree conferral date will be acceptable on a case specific basis.

The stipend for the Fellowship year is $30,000; a Professional Development stipend of $300 (to assist with workshop/conference/and related expenses) is also provided.

Start date:  early August 2013; later start date is possible (as negotiated).

Fellows will receive annual paid time-off during the year (including 12 vacation days, 12 days sick leave, and most University holidays) pending their required training hours for licensure and coverage duties.  Fellows receive the faculty/staff health benefits package and will have access to university facilities and services comparable to other faculty and staff.

Priority consideration will be given to those completed applications received by August 2, 2013; however applications will be accepted until successful candidates are identified.
