Assistant Professor - Graduate Liberal Studies
The Graduate Liberal Studies Program of the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship with primary teaching responsibilities in the interdisciplinary Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies and additional responsibilities as Assistant Director.
The Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies offers a highly integrated exploration of the liberal arts, which not only adheres to the traditional values of a broad liberal arts education, but is specifically designed for highly motivated learners who wish to deepen their understanding of the social, scientific, and humanistic dimensions of today's world.
Teaching experience is required. A preference will be given to candidates with interdisciplinary teaching experience. The successful applicant will teach core courses in Liberal Studies and Liberal Studies courses in his or her own field as well as contribute to research and teaching in an additional department in the College of Arts and Sciences. The terminal degree is required (Ph.D. or M.F.A.) or must be obtained in the first academic year of employment. Preference will be given to applicants in the fields of Theatre, Public History/Digital History, and Anthropology with a concentration in Archaeology. The appointment date is August 2013.
