Associate Director of Athletics for Major Gifts

The University of North Carolina, Wilmington, is seeking an Associate Director of Athletics for Major Gifts. The Associate Director will function as a member of the major gift team in the Division for University Advancement and is under the joint supervision of the Director of Athletics and the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement.
Located in southeastern North Carolina within minutes of the Atlantic Ocean, UNC Wilmington is one of 17 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina. The responsibilities of the Associate Director of Athletics for Major Gifts include management of UNCW’s development efforts as they relate to prospect identification, major donor relationship cultivation, solicitation and stewardship in the area of Athletics in order to reach the strategic and foremost fundraising objectives of the university. Must be able to travel and attend weekend and evening events.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree required, with a minimum of five years’ management experience working in a higher education fundraising department at a professional level. The successful candidate will have experience with university capital and comprehensive campaigns and working knowledge of IRS regulations governing charitable giving. Masters degree preferred, with advanced knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations and public relations, and experience in athletics fundraising. (Amended October 31, 2012).
