The department graduate coordinator oversees the operations of the graduate program within the department. The coordinator is the link between the department and the Graduate School. Students should keep the coordinator apprised of all changes or problems concerning their graduate career. Coordinators should develop a rapport with the graduate students that promotes communication. In addition, one of the most important functions of the graduate coordinator is advising students. Although a student’s faculty advisor provides most of the advising of graduate students, the graduate coordinator is often involved in process, particularly during the early stages of their graduate education where a faculty advisor has not been selected. The graduate coordinator also maintains the graduate student records within the department. The graduate coordinator handles pre-registration and registration materials for online registration for all classes.
