Barrier Island marshes are being studied by Dr. Halls and her graduate students to map changes and measure hurricane impacts.

GISci research is being conducted across many departments at UNCW. For example, the Environmental Studies department is using GIS technology to map recreation areas at several locations in coastal North Carolina (see link on Web GIS Portal).
