New Music Festival-Music by Shih-Hui Chen and Meira Warshauer
UNCW presents the 2014 New Music Festival, a 3-day event in February that will showcase the talent of UNCW’s students, faculty and guest composers. The festival will take place Feb. 2-4 and is sponsored by the Department of Music and the Office of Cultural Arts, in partnership with the Department of Anthropology, Department of Film Studies, Office of International Programs, Asian Studies and the Women’s Studies and Resource Center.
Tickets are required for the following event. They will be available at the Cultural Arts Building Box Office an hour prior to performance. The cost is $5 per person for the general public and free for students with valid UNCW I.D.
Music by Shih-Hui Chen and Meira Warshauer on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Beckwith Recital Hall.
The program will feature the world premiere of War Songs: from the Middle Kingdom to Tartars, written by Shih-Hui Chen and performed and commissioned by Mary Jo White and Robert Nathanson. Barbara McKenzie and Elizabeth Loparits will also be performing "Ocean Calling," written by Meira Warshauer.
