The English Department places interns locally and nationally with more than 40 agencies, newspapers and TV stations.

If you've passed our eligibility test, you're ready to start applying.

Step one:

Download this form, fill it out using Word (or using any word processing software), and save it to your computer. E-mail the Internship Coordinator at mathewss@uncw.edu or click Shirley Mathews and attach the completed form to the e-mail.

Step two:

Make an appointment.

Here's how:

Use the link to the Coordinator's online calendar to figure out an appointment time. She has regular office hours, and simply dropping by also works, but a student may have to stand in line behind someone who has scheduled an appointment beforehand.

Making the appointment:

Click on the link to Ms. Mathews' calendar, find a time that's mutually agreeable, and e-mail Ms. Mathews at mathewss@uncw.edu with the following in the subject line:

"APPT:" (no quotes) and your name, date and time desired (in the subject line)

Warning: Simply asking for an appointment does not mean it is finalized until it is confirmed either by e-mail reply or when it appears on the calendar.

Reminder: Confirmation means you get an a-mail reply, OR you see it added to the calendar.
