Victoria Minshew

Victoria Minshew is a passionate and skillful professional who recognizes that excellence is a journey, not a destination.  Victoria is a National Board Certified Teacher who received a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and is currently teaching 5th grade at College Park Elementary School.  During her 18-year career she has taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades as well as Kindergarten - 5th Grade S.T.E.M. classes. A strong advocate of Positive Classroom Culture and S.T.E.M. education, she involves her students in a variety of problem-solving and technology-infused activities that provide them with opportunities to collaborate and support one another. Victoria educates the "whole child." Character education is one of her strengths. She teaches children to be responsible for themselves, their actions, and to have compassion for others as well as pride in themselves; skills that will enable them to achieve success in their education as well as their lives. Her professional interests focus on S.T.E.M. education and how she can cultivate student interest in S.T.E.M. careers. She coaches elementary Science Olympiad teams and competes in the regional tournament yearly since its beginnings in 2010.  She coordinates with faculty at the University of North Carolina Wilmington to hold annual STEM events at College Park. Victoria has led professional development in science and technology at the school and county levels and has worked with the Department of Public Instruction to create questions and stems for the 5th grade Science EOG assessment. In addition, she serves as Site Coordinator, National Board Facilitator, Peer Evaluator, a Partnership Teacher, and a member of the Professional Educators of North Carolina. Victoria is highly respected by students, parents, and colleagues who witness her unfaltering professionalism, teaching expertise, and lifelong love of learning.
