Kathy Fox, PhD is an Associate Professor in the department of Language and Literacy. She holds a doctorate of Education from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Her interests include multicultural education and writing.

Barbara Honchell, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Language and Literacy. She holds a doctorate in Special Education and Literacy Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and serves as a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader for UNCW. Her interests include at-risk readers and systemic observations.

Debbie Powell, Ed.D., is an Associate Professor in the Language and Literacy graduate program and Elementary Education undergraduate program.  She holds a Doctorate of Education in Reading from Indiana University, Bloomington with cognates in English Language Arts and School Administration.  Her research interests include:  writing, spelling and phonics, literacy in science, integrated curriculum and reading comprehension.
