MSA Program Requirements

The UNCW Master of School Administration program is offered and designed to prepare educators for educational leadership roles. The program consists of 36 semester hours and is designed for both full or part-time study.

Full-Time Option

Fall Semester, Year One (9 Credit Hours)

EDL 513 Organizational Theory & Leadership (3)
EDL 514 School Improvement, Innovation and Change (3)
EDL 568 Program Design and Evaluation (3)

Spring Semester, Year One (9 credit hours)

EDL 512 Legal Issues and Policy as a Systemic Process (3)
EDL 530 Curriculum and Instruction for School Leaders (3)
EDL 566 Supervision & Teacher Evaluation (3)

Fall Semester, Year Two (9 credit hours)

EDL 526 Managerial Leadership and Administration (3)
EDL 570 Internship: Leadership Applications I (6)

Spring Semester, Year Two (9 credit hours)

EDL 571 Internship: Leadership Applications II (6)
EDL 500-level elective (consult with program coordinator). Students who are able to take a split-placement (two schools) for EDL 570-571 are NOT required to take EDL 569.  Thus an elective can be taken instead of EDL 569 if a student completes a two-school (two different levels) placement for EDL 570-571."
