Graduation Pledge
The Graduation Pledge
“I pledge to explore and take into account the social and environmental consequences of any job I consider and will try to improve these aspects of any organization for which I work.”
The History of the Pledge:
The Graduation Pledge Alliance was founded at Humboldt State University, and UNCW students adopted it as a result of a senior initiative in 2001. Those who choose to take the pledge join seniors from all over the country who wish to make a commitment to being part of shaping a better citizenry and world through their employment, awareness and advocacy.
Who can take the Pledge?
Seniors who are graduating can take it. When you take the pledge, you will receive a green ribbon that should be worn on the left side of your graduation gown. If you wish, you may sign up for the pledge here and pick up the ribbon at CLES, Fisher University Union, Rm 2013 before graduation.
Where can I get more information on the Pledge?
You can visit the Center for Leadership Education and Service in the Fisher University Union Room 2013 or call 910.962.3877 if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
