VA Leaders Visit CHHS
On Friday, November 2, leaders from the Fayetteville VA Medical Center and the Wilmington and Jacksonville VA Clinics visited the CHHS. Mr. James Galkowski, Associate Director of the Fayetteville VAMC, talked with CHHS faculty, staff, and partners about Wilmington’s new VA Health Care Center (nearing end of construction), the scope of services planned for the new facility, and an overview of the veteran population in this region.
The CHHS is in the process of formalizing a partnership with the Fayetteville VA Medical Center, who has oversight responsibilities for the Wilmington, Brunswick County, and Jacksonville Community-based Outpatient [VA] Clinics. This partnership will focus our joint efforts on (a) promoting collaboration in the areas of clinical training, research, and health education initiatives, and (b) exploring joint learning and professional development opportunities.
The VA team visit on Friday was a success and both the CHHS and the VA are eager to the continued development of this partnership.
