3rd Annual CHHS Convocation
Friday, September 20, 2013 - 4:00-6:00
McNeill Hall Lawn Area
4:00 – 5:00 pm, Convocation Ceremony
5:00 – 6:00 pm, CHHS Carnival and Refreshments on the Lawn
Convocation traditions go back several centuries and vary from university to university. At UNCW we have a tradition of a Freshman Convocation to welcome and introduce new students to the University. However, no such longstanding tradition existed for students entering into their majors and/or the College of Health and Human Services. The CHHS started a tradition of welcoming and introducing students to the College and to their School within the CHHS in 2011. This year will mark the 3rd year of the CHHS Convocation.
The CHHS Convocation Task Force has worked hard to develop this year’s event. Students from all three Schools in CHHS helped in the planning. The Task Force has organized a festive event to bring together faculty, staff and students within CHHS to celebrate the start of the new academic year. In addition we will provide our students information about CHHS and our three Schools. The Convocation ceremony will run from 4:00 – 5:00 pm, and a Carnival celebration—complete with food, games and prizes—will follow on the lawn.
I urge you to give this event priority in your schedule as it will be our kick-off for all students and faculty within the CHHS. Dress is casual this year to allow all to enjoy both the ceremony and the carnival. I hear that there will be a Dunk the Dean game for all to enjoy in addition to other fun activities.
Come out and support our College and Schools!
