RE: Reported Armed Robbery and Assault
The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a report of an armed robbery and
assault that occurred near the South College Road Cinema Park and Ride.
A female, non-university member, reported that on Friday, May 4, 2007,
around 3:20 p.m., as she was walking in the area of the Salt Shaker near the Cinema Park and
Ride, a black male approached her in a vehicle and produced a handgun. The male ordered the
female into the vehicle where he robbed and assaulted her. The male then released the female
and drove off in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as a tall black male, approximately 40 years of age,
with a goatee and a scar over his right eye and scars on his neck and arms. The suspect was
operating a white 90s model panel van with blue stripes and damage behind the driver’s side
door. The van had an unknown N.C. license plate.
The UNCW Police Department asks that you remain alert and aware of your
surroundings. Report any suspicious persons and/or activity to the police via 911 Emergency,
non-emergency 962-2222, anonymously 962-TIPS or the nearest emergency call box. If you have any
