Since 1947, (read a brief history of UNCW), the University of North Carolina Wilmington, has been recognized by a variety of symbols and designs as well as words, phrases and letters that identify the university and symbolize its purpose, values and traditions.
In order to
protect ownership of its “intellectual
property,” UNCW
has developed polices and procedures regarding the use of its name and marks. The UNCW
Visual Identity Policies are the official source for information
concerning official university logos and colors.
Before using or reproducing
the university's name or marks for merchandise or other commercial use, permission
is required. The university's licensing
review authority is delegated to the Enterprise Risk Management Officer.
UNCW logo merchandise to be used internally by a group on campus must be
registered with the Enterprise Risk Management Officer, who shall obtain approvals
on all designs for internal or on-campus use prior to being printed.
